Every year, Kinugawa Onsen celebrates the Lunar New Year on a grand scale. The resort holds various events and offers special gifts for international visitors. Outside the festivities, relax in the hot springs and have fun in the area's amusement parks.

At the Lunar New Year and Oni Festival, visitors can celebrate the Lunar New Year with food, drink and games. You can participate in a tea ceremony, eat Nikko’s famous soba (buckwheat noodles), enjoy popular festival games, and try kakizome—ceremonial New Year calligraphy. Visitors can meet oni (mythical Japanese ogres) native to Kinugawa Onsen.

Kinugawa Onsen is actually made up of two hot springs—Taki Onsen on the west bank of the Kinugawa River, and Fujiwara Onsen on the east. It’s known for its relaxing properties and it attracts many travelers each year. Currently Kinugawa Onsen has over 80 hotels and ryokans, ranging from traditional Japanese style to modern Western style.

You can see models of 102 famous buildings from around the world in this theme park, reproduced at a 1:25 scale. From autumn through spring the monuments and buildings are illuminated in the evening, giving visitors a unique view of the iconic structures.
